Cannes




Cannes is a municipality located in the French department of Alpes-Maritimes in the Provence-Alpes-Cote d'Azur region. Cannes is the third largest city in the department by its population which can triple during the tourist season, from 70.000 people in October to 210.000 people during the summer. The main resource of Cannes is tourism. The palaces and luxury shops in prime locations are numerous. The seafront, with its famous promenade on the Croisette, is one of its major tourist attractions.
Cannes is also known for its film festival held annually in mid-May. The Palais des Festivals is a mythic place of this wonderful city. Cannes is also famous due to the presence of sumptuous palaces along the Croisette, such as Carlton Intercontinental Hotel, the Hotel Martinez, the Majestic Hotel or the Palais Stephanie.
The Hilton renamed the Palais Stephanie in 2007 is a famous 4-star hotel prestige with a modern style architecture design on the Croisette in Cannes on the French Riviera. The Palais Stephanie is located in the middle of the Croisette in Cannes facing the Mediterranean Sea. The Palais Stephanie was founded by businessman Hotel empire founder of Geneva Switzerland Nessim Gaon and erected in the years 1990 on the Croisette to replace the old Palais des Festivals. It was managed by the Hilton group until October 2007 and now it will go under Accor's management (Sofitel).
