Dimitris Papadias awarded Cor Baayen Fellowship
Dimitris Papadis (GMD) was selected Cor Baayen Fellow 1996. The Cor
Baayen Fellowship was created to honour the first ERCIM President, and
is presented each year to a promising young researcher working in one of
the ERCIM institutes.

Dennis Tsichriztis, President of ERCIM (l) presents the 1000 ECU Cor Baayen Fellowship Award to Dimtris Papadis during the ERCIM meetings in Prague, 8 November.
Papadias is a young researcher with a sizable publication list and an
established research network throughout the world. His work concentrates
on spatial database technology and combines analytical studies and algorithms
in the context of challenging applications. Work co-authored with several
leading researchers has reached the top quality conferences and journals
in the database and geo-graphic information systems (GIS) arena. Working
as an ERCIM fellow at GMD he represents a large number of travelling researchers
with a keen eye towards real-world computer science issues.
While at GMD, his research focused on Argumentation and Group Decision
Making through the development of ZENO (a Compu-tational Dialectics System),
in the framework of GEOMED (Geographical Mediation) Project of the Artificial
Intelligence Research Division (FIT.KI).
